Oxalic acid is colorless monoclinic flake or prismatic crystal or white powder without odor. 1g of the product is soluble in 7ml water, 2ml boiling water, 2.5ml ethyl alcohol, 1.8ml boiling ethyl alcohol, 100ml diethyl ether, 5.5ml glycerin, insoluble in benzene, trichloromethane, and petroleum ether. pH value of 0.1mol/L solution is 1.3. Relative density: 1.653 (dihydrate), 1.9 (anhydride). α type: 1.900, β type: 1.895. Refractive index: 1.540. Stability: breaks down at 189.5℃. Melting point: 101～102℃(187℃, anhydrous). Low toxicity. Median lethal dose (rabbit, through skin)2000mg/kg.

Pharmaceutical industry: in producing aureomycin, oxytetracycline, tetracycline, streptomycin, borneol, vitamin B12, phenobarbital, and etc.
Resin industry: as catalyst for synthesizing phenolic resin.
As bleaching agent
Oxalic acid is mainly used as reducing agent and bleaching agent.
Oxalic acid can also be used in producing Co-Mo-Al catalyst.
As reducing agent
The product can be used in producing hydroquinone, pentaerythritol, obalt formate, nickel oxalate, gallic acid, and other chemical products.
Oxalic acid can be used in producing PVC, amino plastic, urea formaldehyde plastic, and color chip in plastic industry.
